TEHRAN (IQNA) – A prominent Egyptian qari appreciated the country’s Awqaf ministry for holding Quranic and religious programs during the holy month of Ramadan.

Egyptian qari Abdul Fattah Taruti

Abdul Fattah Taruti in recent remarks hailed Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa for holding the programs, which included Quranic circles, Tawasheeh (religious signing), Ibtihal recitation, and Tarteel recitation session.

Mosques all over the Arab country hosted the programs during the blessed month.

Taruti said those owning beautiful voices created spiritual atmospheres in mosques with their recitations.

He noted that the performances were broadcast by TV and radio stations as well.

Taruti also praised the Awqaf ministry for dispatching top qaris and scholars to other countries for Quran recitation during Ramadan.

He added that this is the most brilliant period in the history of the Awqaf ministry.

Ramadan (March 23- April 21 this year) is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.

They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
